Richard Hughson - With over 30 years of performance experience in clown, magic, and physical comedy, Richard received his training from clown schools around the country. He is a founding member of Flower City Vaudeville. A retired mechanic and machinist, he builds many of the wonderful devices and gags used in The Laughing Classroom.

Michelle Halperin (B.A., M.S. Ed.) – Retiring after over 30 years of experience as a New York State public school teacher, Michelle is excited to now be building shows celebrating learning and laughter. With performance training in Rochester, NY and Maine, Michelle’s passion for teaching and hands on learning is what drives The Laughing Classroom and its workshops.

The Energy Show!
An introductory look at different types of Energy including and Sound, Light, Potential and Kinetic energy as well as forces and motion. With plenty of fun experiments and participation, students will grasp basic energy concepts.

The Air Show!
A look at the wonders of air, including air pressure, resistance, displacement, vacuums and more! Unexpected results and giggles abound as students play with air!

The Clown Show!
Richard’s comedic alter ego, Loopy, has wanted to be a clown his entire life. While stumbling through a book which explains how to become one, he learns the importance of careful reading. Will he learn enough to earn the coveted red nose?

(Grades Prek - 4, Seniors) 45 minutes

SEL Workshops

Our SEL workshops are designed to challenge students through games and humor. Students will be laughing and playing as they work together, support each other, and build self- confidence.

Special Needs Programming

The Laughing Classroom has enjoyed performing for special needs audiences for many years. His silly juggling, lively balancing and slapstick pratfalls are a natural fit for any audience.
