Unique Fair is a Fine Artist from Rochester, NY. He seeks to use his skill set as an artist and activist to empower people to be the change they wish to see in the world. As a youngster, his passion for art & community organizing developed. This blends with his vision to craft artwork focusing on the themes of oppression, liberation and the friction between.

A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) with a BFA in Illustration and an MFA in Studio Arts, Unique currently instructs undergraduate painting, drawing & printmaking classes at RIT. He also teaches at the Memorial Art Gallery & the Flower City Arts Center. His achievements include: his work being collected by the Memorial Art Gallery, and winning the Print Club of Rochester's BIPOC residency. Fair’s artworks have been accepted at a number of exhibitions including the 67th Finger Lakes Exhibition at the MAG, Turn Left Here Exhibition at the UUU Gallery, Wall to Wall Exhibition at Flower City Arts Center and his Thesis Exhibition at City Arts Space.

WORKSHOPS: Available Online or In-Person

Color and You: A color mixing and matching activity

This workshop teaches about colors, how to make them, use them and their importance in the natural world. Through hands-on activities, participants will have the opportunity to expand their understanding of color theory in an interactive manner that encourages engagement. Starting with primary colors, plus black & white, students will develop a color wheel. Once completed a “Color Challenge” is presented to the group. Breaking into teams, the task of finding the right combination of colors is a group effort to solve the challenge.

Intersection of Art and Science

Art and science both explore complex concepts. One of the fundamental challenges is how to express ideas to a wider community. In this workshop, participants explore in teams, both the arts and sciences of getting that idea across to the public. This will include imagery, radioactive symbols, cave drawings and how we as humans make common and uncommon associations with what we see. Participants will learn how the arts can actually wield a swift and nuanced way to communicate these often difficult concepts.
