Womba Africa is a cultural drum group formed in the town of Nungua. The members are part of the Ga Adangbe People in greater Accra, Ghana. Their tribe has a very rich history and culture which is quite distinct from other major ethnic groups there. The Womba Africa band typically performs in the Ga language because almost all members are from Nungua, a Ga speaking community. WOMBA Africa offers energetic & engaging African cultural experiences through music & storytelling performances as well as workshops. They are 45 minutes long (which can be adjusted) and age appropriate for the audience. 

Performances

Live Performance

This is an energetic drumming and cultural performance. WOMBA introduces the audience to Ghana, the language of Ga, their drums and other instruments while performing pieces from their community.

Stories & Drums
WOMBA shares some traditional African stories from their community. These stories are accompanied by soft drumming to set the mood.

Performance & Workshop Combo
This drumming and cultural performance provides a combination of the live performance and a hands-on experience in drumming with instruments typically found in Africa.

Workshops

Drum Workshop

After a brief introduction by WOMBA, attendees learn the rhythms and beats typically used in music from the African continent. They’ll try their hand at various drums and percussion instruments before the workshop ends in a jam session with WOMBA.
